One thing that many new business owners do not account for is the “loneliness factor.” While you are getting up and running it can be difficult to continue forward if you do not have anybody to bounce ideas off of. This is just one of the reasons why it is a good idea to find a mentor for your new business. Although it may sound difficult, you may be surprised at how easy it can be to locate somebody who is willing to help.

Along with acting as a sounding board, your mentor is able to show you the way. They can tell you what you are doing right, what you are doing wrong, and how to make the proper changes as you continue forward. Remember, it is always better to catch mistakes before they happen than to wait until it is too late.

Do you know somebody who can act as a mentor? If so, get in touch with them as soon as possible. Detail your situation, ask them if they are willing to help, and then get started as soon as possible. You may have to speak with several potential mentors before you find the one that is going to do you the most good.

But I don’t know anybody! This is a common complaint, and the one that holds most people back from finding a mentor. But remember this: just because you don’t know somebody right now does not mean you have to let this affect your business forever. You can actively begin your search for a mentor if you know where to look. The first thing you should do is spread the word. The more people you tell the better chance you have of getting connected with a mentor.

Also, don’t be afraid to send cold emails or make cold calls. These are both great ways to meet new people, and maybe even find somebody who will mentor you as your business is getting up and running.

If you find a mentor for your business you will realize soon enough that there are many benefits. Why continue to be lonely and do everything on your own when you do not have to? Rather than continue down this path, get involved with a mentor as soon as possible. By doing this you will quickly find that you are in position to achieve greater success. What more could you want?
